Office bearers and membership information

1.     Object

The object of the HORIZONS VETERANS GOLF CLUB (HVGC) is to foster the game of golf and promote social intercourse among Veteran members of Horizons Golf Resort (HGR), their guests and visitors.

HVGC shall be affiliated with The New South Wales Veterans Golf Association (NSWVGA) Group 9 (Port Stephens).

2.     Membership

Membership is available to financial members of HGR who have attained the age of 55 years for men and 50 years for women. A current GA handicap is necessary to participate in HVGC events, but this may be obtained after the submission of five competition cards.

Members must pay an annual membership fee as determined by the Management Committee and in doing so become bound by the Constitution and Rules of the Club and become members of NSWVGA.

3.     Eligibility for Competitions

All golfers who meet the age criteria for membership of the NSWVGA, or who are HVGC members  guests, are eligible to play in HVGC competitions. However, only those players who are current financial bona fide members of HVGC, NSWVGA or interstate equivalent organisations are eligible to win prizes at HVGC events.

4.     Club Management and Officers

A Management Committee, comprising PRESIDENT, SECRETARY, TREASURER and SOCIAL DIRECTOR, shall operate the Club. Additional positions may be added on an ad hoc, non-permanent basis should the need arise.

Election of the Management Committee shall occur at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). An AGM shall be held within two months of the end of the Financial Year. A quorum shall be 20 financial members.

An issue shall be determined by a majority of votes of those present. No proxy system will apply.

Nominations for a position on the Committee shall be taken from the floor. All nominees shall be financial members of HVGC. All voting members shall be financial members of both HVGC.

If more nominations than the required number are received, a Returning Officer shall be appointed by the current President to conduct a secret ballot amongst the eligible members in attendance at the AGM. If fewer nominations than the required number are received, those persons nominated shall be elected and further nominations shall be called for from the floor of the AGM. If insufficient nominations are received, the elected members will act as the Committee and may appoint any eligible member(s) to fill the vacancies for the remainder of the year.

Should a vacancy occur during any year, the Committee may appoint an eligible member to hold office until the next AGM.

Management Meetings shall be held as required. A quorum at a Management Meeting shall be three (3) elected officers. The President (Committee Chairperson) shall have the casting vote on any issue should a voting impasse arise.

Special Management Meetings or Special General Meetings must be called by the Management Committee on a specific topic on receipt of a petition signed by a minimum of 30 percent of current financial members.

With the exception of the provisions contained in Section 6 of the HVGC constitution, any of the provisions contained in the HVGC Constitution may be altered by a vote in excess of 50% of current financial membership. Email votes are acceptable for this purpose.

5.     Finance

HVGC is a non-proprietary, non-profit club. The income and any surplus from time to time shall be applied to promoting the Club’s objectives and the benefits of its members.

Income is received from membership fees, HGR competition fees, donations and sponsorships.

The financial year will end on 30 September. The Membership year will commence on the 1st of October.

The Committee shall cause all proper accounts and records to be kept with respect to all financial transactions of the Club.

The Treasurer shall present to the Committee at each meeting, or at least Monthly, a summary of the current financial position of the Club.

The Committee shall present to each AGM a statement of the financial position as at 30th September of that year.

Should HVGC be wound up for any reason, the following will apply:
